These last few weeks, I have been attending some workshops at the university. This weeks workshops are centred towards Singer Songwriters.
On Monday I had the privilege of interviewing/comparing 2 of the sessions.
Firstly, Leighton Jones gave us a visit with his good friend Anthony ‘Drumtan’ Ward. Their workshop came at just the right time, it was fun, easy to listen to and they got people up to jam with them 🙂 A perfect workshop for musicians who had a ton of info been thrown at them over previous couple of weeks.
After that was the very lovely Balsamo Deighton. A singer songwriter duo with a wealth of experience and a beautiful desire to share their wisdom with us. They sang some tracks from their new album inbetween sharing their background and knowledge of the music industry.
Both workshops left a very nice impression on this budding songwriter. 2 main things that they confirmed and encouraged in me was 1.) be yourself – everyone else is taken 2.) enjoy the process – it’s not worth pursuing songwriting unless you love it.
